Mr. Schmidt’s practice focuses on helping clients with all areas of mergers and acquisitions and general business transactions including: entity formation, corporate governance, business operations, dispositions, shareholder buy-sell agreements, dispute resolution, business and tax planning, reorganizations, and succession planning. He also works with clients to achieve their estate planning goals whether it is through basic estate planning, such as a will or a revocable trust, or more complex estate planning that requires detailed gift, tax, and charitable strategies. Mr. Schmidt’s background and specialized degree in tax law provides his clients with a unique advantage when working with them to achieve their business and financial goals.
Mr. Schmidt is a Member of the Colorado Bar Association Tax Law Executive Council and the sits on the Board as the Executive Secretary for the International J. Reuben Clark Law Society.
He received his LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Florida Levin College of Law, his Juris Doctorate from the University of South Dakota Knudson School of Law, a Master’s Degree in Construction Management from Colorado State University, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Finance from Brigham Young University – Idaho.
Mr. Schmidt grew up in Westminster, Colorado, and in his spare time he enjoys hiking, cooking, fly fishing, traveling, and spending time with his wife, Tara, and their three kids.
