As a Fort Collins business and real estate attorney, Walter Winslow’s practice focuses on complex business, construction law (including construction defect and mechanics liens), real estate transactions and contracts, mergers and acquisitions, business formation, owner agreements (including shareholder and partner agreements), commercial and residential leases, eminent domain (a governmental taking of private property for public purposes) and related business and real estate litigation. Mr. Winslow has been a practiced lawyer since 1996. He obtained his B.S.B.A. in accounting from the University of Dayton and was a member of the Beta Alpha Psi, an accounting honor society. Mr. Winslow graduated from the University of Dayton School of Law, where he was also an associate editor on the Law Review. After law school, Mr. Winslow clerked for the Honorable Thomas Rose of the Greene County Common Pleas Court, who was subsequently appointed to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio.

Mr. Winslow is admitted to practice before all courts in the State of Colorado and is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court, District of Colorado and Northern District of Ohio, and the U.S. Court of Appeals, Sixth and Tenth Circuits. He has lectured for the National Business Institute on choice of business entities and for private businesses and is the author of “I.R.S. Seeks to Resolve Tax Treatment of Hedging Gains and Losses: Treasury Regulation Section 1.1221-2”, University of Dayton Law Review (1995).

Mr. Winslow is an active member of the Northern Colorado community. He is involved with the Northern Colorado Home Builders Association (NoCo HBA), including being past Chair of the Governmental and Regulatory Affairs Committee.  He is a member of the Larimer County Bar Association and Colorado Bar Association as well as the Business, Real Estate Law and Litigation Sections of the Colorado Bar Association. Mr. Winslow is a former board member to the Childsafe, a non-profit organization that provides sexual abuse treatment to children and their families. He has also been a member of the Fort Collins Chamber of Commerce and a board member of the University of Dayton Alumni Association, Denver Chapter. He enjoys outdoor activities such as mountain biking, hiking, snow shoeing and skiing.
