Monica Plake is based out of the firm’s Fort Collins office, but supports clients throughout Colorado and Oklahoma. Ms. Plake’s practice is focused primarily on technology, business, and real estate transactions, including software development, licensing, and implementation, SaaS, trademark registration, data privacy advisement, M&A, real estate, commercial leasing, and employment and labor advisement. With more than 25 years of legal experience, Ms. Plake has spent approximately half of her career in senior in-house corporate legal positions, with the balance in private law firm practice, allowing her to bring a uniquely sophisticated yet practical approach to helping her clients find solutions. She is rated AV-Preeminent® by Martindale-Hubbell and is licensed in Colorado and Oklahoma.
Ms. Plake received her Bachelor of Arts in History in 1990 from The University of Texas at Arlington. She received her Juris Doctorate with Honors in 1997 from The University of Tulsa. Originally from Louisiana, Ms. Plake spent a substantial portion of her career supporting corporate clients in the energy and pipeline industry with operations throughout the United States and Mexico. After moving to Estes Park, Colorado, she managed a business-focused law firm supporting many local business and real estate clients in Colorado, as well as corporate clients in Oklahoma. Most recently Ms. Plake practiced at an international law firm working with clients in industries such as insurance, energy, data analytics, and software development. She has provided client and trade organization training on a variety of topics including technology transactions, IP protection, data privacy, real estate law, and labor union management.
Outside of the office, Ms. Plake enjoys hiking in the beautiful Colorado mountains, riding her Harley-Davidson® Sportster® 1200, and fly-fishing with her husband, Tom.
